With the new Federal Statutory Holiday of National Truth and Reconciliation, we have been thinking about whether we should close or not (it is a designated paid holiday for federally regulated employees but similar to Boxing Day it is not a paid holiday for many). The day recognizes the colonial legacy of residential schools, honours Indigenous survivors, and is part of the ongoing reconciliation process. We feel this is important. As such, we have decided to remain open on September 30th and use the day to help build awareness and support for Orange Shirt Day which was started right here in the Cariboo
