This year, we had an assembly to learn more about Phyllis' story and the story of residential schools. Then, we created a video of the story and had students from our K-12 school read a page. We have stitched together the images of the story book, along with our readers, big and small, to create our Dinsmore Composite School reading. We have also created a bulletin board to showcase ways in which we can make sure to help others know that they matter. We will show the video in all of our classrooms on October 1st.

The Orange Shirt Society was formed in Williams Lake by the founders of Orange Shirt Day to encourage and support communities to recognize Orange Shirt Day
and to support reconciliation events and activities. Our goal is to create
awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of
Indian Residential Schools through Orange Shirt Day activities, and to promote the concept of "Every Child Matters".
